El Dorado Baseball Hall of Fame Announces 2016 Inductees and Banquet Date
The El Dorado Baseball Hall of Fame is pleased to announce the latest members to be inducted at their banquet on January 16, 2016 at 5:30 P.M. at the El Dorado Civic Center, 201 E. Central. The 2016 class includes Clifford Jackson (At-large), Jerry Higgins (El Dorado American Legion), Rick Scott (El Dorado High School), Jeremy Troutman and Ryan Dixon (Butler Community College) and Drew Moffitt (El Dorado Broncos).
Also being inducted is the undefeated 1968 El Dorado Elks (13-14 year old) State Champions. The Elks used to sponsor district and state tournaments for that age group similar to American Legion baseball for 15-18 year olds.
Another highlight of the banquet will be recognition of two big anniversaries in 2016. Next year marks the 90th anniversary of El Dorado American Legion winning the very first Kansas State Tournament and advancing to the American Legion World Series in Philadelphia. It will also be the 50th anniversary of El Dorado American Legion winning the 1966 Kansas State Tournament and playing in the National Regional in Bismarck, ND. That was the last time an El Dorado team advanced beyond the state level and it is hoped that most or all of the 1966 team will be in attendance.
There will be an open house at the El Dorado Baseball Hall of Fame Museum located at McDonald Stadium from 3:00-5:00 with a social at the Civic Center starting at 5:00 and then continuing after the banquet. Tickets are $20 for adults and $15 for students in grades K-12. Reservations are requested as there will be a very limited number of tickets available at the door. Reservations can be made by emailing email@example.com with the name and number of adults and students attending. For more information, either email or call Sam Leben at 321-2357.
