Hall of Fame Inductees

The 1992 team coached by Brad Long may have been the best in El Dorado High School history with a combination of great team speed and defense. They allowed their opponents to score 3 runs or less 17 times. The outfield of Seusy, Mann and Vann (left to right) was the "fastest in the state and I don't mean just high school" stated then KU assistant coach Brad Hill. The great defense backed up an excellent pitching staff that compiled a school record 1.60 ERA, allowing a total of 72 runs in 25 games.

The speed combined with timely hitting made for a very potent offense. A team batting average of .315 when combined with a school record 127 stolen bases produced 218 runs. They were one of the most dominant teams in the Midwest as evidenced by their top 75 National Ranking by USA Today.

Their 24 wins is a school record and this was the first team to go undefeated in the AVL with a 14-0 record. In addition to their strong starting lineup, the team also had solid depth all-around. Twelve batters had 24 or more at bats and six pitchers took turns on the mound. After first baseman Schake, who was hitting .371, fell ill after 11 games, his spot was filled and the Cats went on to win another 12 straight. The 23 game winning streak is also a school record that may never be broken.

The entire starting outfield of Scott Mann, Brad Seusy and Eric Vann and pitcher Todd Hinnenkamp were named to the 5A All-State Team by the Kansas Baseball Coaches Association. Vann was also selected to the 5A All State Tournament Team and Mann and Seusy played in the KABC All Star Game. Mann, Seusy and Hinnenkamp were all named First Team All-AVL along with shortstop/reliever Justin Baker, pitcher/third baseman Marc McLaren and pitcher/outfielder John Vaught. Vann was named Second Team All-AVL and second baseman Shea Fowler received Honorable Mention All-AVL.
