Hall of Fame Inductees

 1972 American Legion

The 1972 Legion Team returned a nucleus of experienced starters from the 1971 team. Using string defense and strong hitting from the experienced players, the team started fast winning twelve of its first seventeen games. But a four game road trip resulted in a 12-9 record as they lost all four games. The team was 13-10 at the end of June and 18-13 by mid-July. However over the next 15 days they 10 games in a row, six of which were rallied from behind, four of those in their last at bat. This included winning the 5th District Championship and qualifying for the State Tournament at Garden City. They extended their winning streak to 13 games with wins over Manhattan, Hays, and Garden City. The season ended on a disappointment with two loses to Hays and a second place finish.

Final Record: 31-15 (.674)

Runner-up State Tournament
Voted to 5th District All Star Team: Wallace, Martinez, Buxton, Hall and Jackson
